Price increase! Starting from March, major shipping companies will impose additional surcharges, raising sea freight costs

    Recently, several leading global shipping companies have announced surcharges, involving multiple mainstream routes from 

the Far East to Latin America, the Middle East, and other regions. The surcharges will be implemented gradually starting in

March, as detailed below:


1. MAERSK


Routes: Far East → Mexico, West Coast of South America, Central America, and the Caribbean

Effective dates:

  Far East (excluding Vietnam) → West Coast of South America, Central America, Caribbean (excluding Puerto Rico, Colombia): from March 6

  Vietnam → the aforementioned regions: from March 14

  Far East → Puerto Rico, Colombia: from March 30

Surcharge rates: For 20GP/40GP/40HC/45HQ, a uniform additional fee of USD 500 per container


2. CMA CGM


Fee type: Middle East Emergency Conflict Surcharge

Effective date: March 2, 2026 (based on loading date), until further notice

Applicable regions: Roundtrip to/from Iraq, Bahrain, Kuwait, Yemen, Qatar, Oman, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt (Sokhna), Djibouti, Sudan, Eritrea

Applicable cargo: New bookings on or after March 2, 2026, that have not yet shipped, and cargo already in transit to the above regions

Surcharge rates:

  20-foot dry container: USD 2000 per container

  40-foot dry container: USD 3000 per container

  Refrigerated and special containers: USD 4000 per container


3. Hapag-Lloyd


Fee type: War Risk Surcharge (WRS)

Effective date: March 2, 2026, until further notice

Applicable regions: Roundtrip to/from all ports in the Shanghai Bay, Arabian Gulf, and Persian Gulf

Applicable cargo: New bookings on or after March 2, 2026, that have not yet shipped, and cargo already in transit to the above regions

Surcharge rates:

  Standard containers: USD 1500 per TEU

  Refrigerated and special containers: USD 3500 per container
